Trip of the Week is becoming quite popular among our sports crazed traveling spectators! We want to keep as many of the action packed weekends coming. Every once in a while we’ll pass along what we’ll call a quick hit! A brief rundown of a weekend of fun.

This week’s Quick Hit: Atlanta!

What’s to do!?

TITLE Day Date Venue
MLB: Miami @ Atlanta Braves Friday 9/9/2016 Turner Field
CFB: Nicholls State @ Georgia Saturday 9/10/2016 Sanford Stadium
CFB: Mercer @ Georgia Tech Saturday 9/10/2016 Bobby Dodd Stadium
NFL: Tampa Bay @ Atlanta Falcons Sunday 9/11/2016 Georgia Dome
Darius Rucker Sunday 9/11/2016 Verizon Wireless Amphitheater
Kanye West Monday 9/12/2016 Philips Arena

Start your weekend off with a Braves game. It might only cost you $5… for a beer. And $2 for a ticket. Can the Braves be any worse? Probably not. But, Turner Field is the best stadium to have only hosted a major league team for less than 20 years. Sorry to see it being left for dead.

Saturday. COLLEGE FOOTBALL! And decision making time. Do you prefer your weekends with a scientific triple option of Georgia Tech in the heart of the city or do you enjoy chanting S-E-C between the hedges? Tough call here with UGA in Athens about an hour away without traffic. The drive is worth it. Both games are non-conference cupcake opponents. Pick your favorite brand of college co-ed and score yourself some tickets.

Sunday. The Double Header. The Atlanta Falcons season atl georgia domeopener against in division rival Tampa Bay Bucs. Year after year the Falcons have high hopes but I just don’t see it happening this year. Matty Ice is as cold as ever lately. In another stadium WTF moment, the Georgia Dome is being replaced by a brand new facility soon. It will be called the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Ironically, their CEO is now the CEO of the Falcons. That might make you shake your head. Nevertheless, both Turner Field and the Georgia Dome were host facilities for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. It’s worth stopping in while a relevant team is still in the building. The game will be at 1PM which leaves plenty of time for our nightly entertainment.

darius ruckerFor our weekend conclusion (maybe) we head off to Darius Rucker. The former lead vocalist of Hootie and the Blowfish now turned country superstar performs 30 minutes north at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. Darius puts on a hell of a show. He’ll play his country tunes but is sure to sprinkle in some Hootie and covers from his personal influences of R.E.M. and Prince. This is a show well worth the price of admission.

Care to stay a little longer? Stay one more night and catch your boy Kanye. The infamous rapper will be playing back at Philips Arena downtown, home of the Atlanta Hawks just next to the Georgia Dome.  Who knows maybe you’ll find a seat next to Kim K.

Looking at a map we could hit four venues all within 30 miles of each other.
